TELEGRAPH POINT

Charlie Watt Reserve

Just off Pembroke Rd, not far from the service station alongside Telegraph Point Rd, is Charlie Watt Reserve and sportsfield. The grounds are used for training and junior games for the Western Phoenix soccer team and for event days for the Port Macquarie Dog Training Club.

Mountain Bike Trails

Behind the clubhouse at Charlie Watt Reserve are a series of fire trails perfect for walking tracks and the old mountain biking trail. While the mountain bike trails are no longer maintained by the Port Macquarie Hastings Council, they have been recently cleared by local Tele Point residents to keep them accessible.

A 9 km loop track runs from Blackbutt Road heading west (parallel with Pembroke Rd), then south towards the 7/4 Fire Trail before returning in a northerly direction to one side of Blackbutt Road. The trail includes sections of timber boardwalk, small jumps, switchbacks, and the option for a steeper downhill run on the Cpt 7/4 Trail (known as Cannondale). The ephemeral creek crossings can get a little boggy after rain, which adds to the fun.

The trails can easily be broken into smaller sections with easy return to the car park via the main fire trails if you want a shorter, family-friendly ride.
